Synopsis of COLOR COLOR is a journey into the dream of an urban artist through live original music, art, and groundbreaking choreography inspired by the cultural diversity that is America. Innovative and one-of-a-kind, no performance of COLOR will ever be the same Too tired to continue after a long day of non-inspiration, the artist falls asleep in his inner city loft. The dream begins when he is visited by three female muses: yellow, blue and red the primary colors. Led by the muses, he moves from scene to scene, represented by six different colors and musical compositions. As each monochromatic group of performers create a "living, moving masterpiece" before his eyes, the artist observes, interacts, and paints what he experiences on various objects within the scene - all in shades of that specific color. Each time the stage transforms to a different color scene, the artists work is "flown" into the constantly shifting background, making room for the next group of objects to be painted. Finally, the stage goes dark once again as the artist awakes from his dream. Confused and covered in paint, he reaches for a cigarette. As his match ignites, the lights come up on stage, revealing his dreams completed work of art. The entire background is now a single image, formed by the various objects the artist painted during the show. An image the audience recognizes from the beginning of the show, before the dream began. © COLOR, copyright 2003, John Bankhead. All rights reserved. |
